The K Club, officially known as the Kildare Country Club, is situated across 550 acres of picturesque County Kildare landscape, making it one of Ireland’s most prestigious golf resorts.
The club first opened in 1991 and it contains two golf courses, both designed by seven-time Major winner and golfing icon Arnold Palmer.
Both courses have undergone substantial improvements and financial investments in the recent years. The K Club is also the only 36-hole Arnold Palmer-designed destination in Europe.
The K Club has played hosted to some iconic golfing events in the past, most notably the 2006 Ryder Cup.
The Palmer North Course was the venue for the tournament that year, marking the first time the biennial tournament had been staged in Ireland.
It marked a hugely historic week for Team Europe as captain Ian Woosnam guided his side to 18.5 – 9.5 victory over Tom Lehman’s USA team.
The North course also hosted the Smurfit European Open on the DP World Tour from 1995 to 2003 and again in 2005, as well as hosting the 2016 Irish Open when was won in emphatic fashion by Rory McIlroy.
The European Open moved to the resort’s inland links Palmer South Course in 2004, 2006 and 2007 while it has also hosted several other high-profile professional events such as last year’s Irish Challenge.
As well hosting this week’s Horizon Irish Open, the K Club is set to also host the tournament in 2025 and 2027.
The venue is also the scheduled host for the upcoming Irish Challenge events in both 2024 and 2026, further affirming itself as one of the nation’s finest resorts.
