HISTORY

1973-2023

In 1973 the European Tour staged the inaugural Scandinavian Enterprise Open at the Royal Drottningholm Golf Club. The tournament was won by Sir Bob Charles, a decade on since the legendary left hander won The Open Championship at Royal Lythum & St Annes.

Since the event was founded, 12 Major champions have won the title now known as the Volvo Cars Scandinavian Mixed. From Seve Ballesteros and Matthew Fitzpatrick to Jesper Parnevik and Peter Hanson the event has provided the springboard for some of the greatest international and Swedish players over the past 50 years.

Though 46 years prior to Sir Bob Charlres lifted the trophy, Volvo produced their first production car. The four-cylinder tourer drove off the production line back in 1927 and since that day, the iconic brand has been evolving their cars to their latest fully electric luxury SUV, the EX90.

That same evolutionary mindset has been applied to the tournament and in 2021 the Volvo Cars Scandinavian Mixed became the first event on the DP World Tour schedule to have a mixed field, with the inclusion of members from the Ladies European Tour.

Last year Sweden’s Linn Grant entered the golfing record books by winning the event to become the first female winner on the DP World Tour.

Now the historic event returns to Ullna Golf and Country Club which last hosted the tournament back in 1987. Designed by Sven Tumba and upgraded by Jack Nicklaus in 2013 the breath-taking course will pose a challenge for the professionals from their opening tee shot to their final putt.
