It is my pleasure to welcome you, on behalf of the Legends Tour, to Royal Porthcawl Golf Club for The Senior Open Presented by Rolex, Europe’s only Senior Major Championship.
It will be the third time The Senior Open Presented by Rolex graces the fairways of this stunning links venue and we are so excited to return to Wales for the first time in six years.
We have enjoyed some memorable occasions on the South Wales coast during our past visits here, particularly Bernhard Langer’s record-breaking 13-stroke victory in 2014.
The Senior Open is a true highlight of the golfing calendar and we cannot wait to welcome back our defending champion, Darren Clarke, and a plethora of golfing greats to this prestigious championship.
I would like to take the opportunity to thank The R&A and the PGA TOUR Champions for their invaluable support and Royal Porthcawl, who I know are delighted to again be hosting such a celebrated event, which we reciprocate entirely.
The event would not be possible without the Championship’s presenting partner Rolex, who have helped to grow this event into the spectacle it is today, as well as its support of the Legends Tour and the European Tour group as a whole.
It would be amiss of me not to thank the Welsh Government, Visit Wales, Wales Golf, Bridgend County Council and all other supporting sponsors for everything they do for this championship.
Behind the scenes I know the staff, volunteers and marshals at Royal Porthcawl all put in a great deal of effort into making the championship a success, and I extend our thanks to them for doing so.
We hope you have a great week.
Best regards,
Phil Harrison
Chief Executive Officer of the Legends Tour

Rydym wedi mwynhau achlysuron cofiadwy ar arfordir De Cymru yn ystod ein hymweliadau yn y gorffennol, yn enwedig 13 ergyd buddugol Bernhard Langer a dorrodd y record yn 2014.
Mae’r Bencampwriaeth Agored Hŷn yn uchafbwynt gwirioneddol y calendr golffio ac rydym yn edrych ymlaen at groesawu Darren Clarke, sy’n amddiffyn ei safle, a thoreth o fawrion y byd golff i’r bencampwriaeth fawreddog hon.
Hoffwn gymryd y cyfle i ddiolch i’r R&A a Phencampwyr TAITH y PGA am eu cymorth gwerthfawr ac i Glwb Golff Brenhinol Porthcawl, y gwn sydd wrth eu bodd o gynnal digwyddiad o’r fath unwaith eto, fel yr ydym ninnau hefyd.
Ni fyddai’r digwyddiad yn bosibl heb bartner cyflwyno’r Bencampwriaeth, Rolex, sydd wedi cynorthwyo i ddatblygu’r digwyddiad i’r wledd ydyw heddiw, yn ogystal â’r gefnogaeth i Daith yr Enwogion a’r grŵp Taith Ewropeaidd yn gyffredinol.
Byddwn ar fai pe na bawn yn diolch i Lywodraeth Cymru, Croeso Cymru, Golff Cymru, Cyngor Sir Pen-y-bont ar Ogwr a’r holl noddwyr cefnogol eraill am bopeth a wneir i’r bencampwriaeth hon.
Y tu ôl i’r llenni, gwn fod staff, gwirfoddolwyr a marsialiaid Clwb Golff Brenhinol Porthcawl yn gweithio’n galed i sicrhau llwyddiant y bencampwriaeth, ac rwy’n diolch iddynt am hynny.
Gobeithiwn y cewch wythnos wych.
Cofion gorau,
Phil Harrison
