The Senior Open 2023 Priorities
- Power – using generators powered by biofuels.
- Transport – encouraging active travel where possible, car sharing, and we will be providing a free public hydrogen powered shuttle bus operating daily from Thursday 27 – Sunday 30 July.
- Catering – using locally sourced produce and suppliers where possible as well as ensuring sufficient vegan and vegetarian options. Limiting food waste by ensuring any surplus is distributed approximately onsite to other departments such as, volunteers thank you party, greenkeepers.
- Waste and Recycling – we will be monitoring our waste output and ensuring waste is recycled where possible through a local company.
- Water – we will be providing refillable water stations across the site, providing refillable bottles and encouraging spectators to bring their own bottles to minimise plastic waste.
- Suppliers – we will be using as many local suppliers as possible where possible to minimise our carbon footprint.
- Signage – we will put up educational signage to promote our sustainability initiatives including how to access refillable water stations and educating spectators on the biodiversity of the site.
