Shane Lowry returns to the BMW PGA Championship to defend the title he won in dramatic fashion at Wentworth Club last season. The Irishman became a two-time Rolex Series winner after edging out Ryder Cup team-mates and fellow Major winners Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm to end his wait for a BMW PGA Championship victory, having finished runner-up to McIlroy in 2014. Lowry’s career-defining moment came in 2019 when he followed up a maiden Rolex Series triumph at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship with an Open Championship victory at Royal Portrush later that year.
